This wild green tea comes from wild Shan Tuyet "Snow Mountain" varietal leaves which grow in ideal conditions in Lai Chau, Vietnam (1600 m), a quiet mountain town along the 270km border with Yunnan, China. The tea leaves come from ancient trees which are then hand-fired in a cast iron pan over a wood-fire, which lends a light smokiness to the tea.
This tea was made harvesting wild leaves from ancient 200-800 year old trees. Its character is wild and strong, so unless you like your tea intense, we recommend you ease your way into the tea with shorter steeping times. You'll find this green tea starts out with prominent marine and mineral flavours, with light smoky notes in the background. As you continue brewing, in later steepings you will notice earthy and woody notes with a sweet aftertaste that lingers in the back of the throat.
