Fabulous early spring white tea from Pathivara, a pristine and remote eastern region of Nepal at at an altitude of 1800-2000m. Pathivara specializes in organic, top quality, hand-picked and handmade artisanal tea. For this tea beautifully processed tea they selected one bud, two leaves and processed as a long withered white tea which has some notes reminiscent of a first flush Darjeeling tea with intoxicating fresh and floral notes evoking jasmine and flowering fruit trees and a light and lively cup.

Pathivara is further north from Ilam, where you'll find most of the larger and more established Nepalese tea producers... it's 9 hours away from the nearest developed area! From the slopes of the garden, straight ahead you see the snow-capped Kumbhakarna mountain. Just 5 km away you'll find the Singhalia Himalayan Nature Reserve, which is famous for the rehabilitation of the Red Panda and the Rare Himalayan Newt.

Pathiwara is located in a fabulous growing area with year round temperatures around 23 degrees and 1800mm rainfall and deliberately has a very low yield, just 50-60 kg of finished tea per hectare - while the global average is 1100 kg/ha. They choose to produce only highest quality tea in order to keep machine production reduced to a minimum. Almost 75% of the production is naturally dried by the sun and air flow from the snowy slopes. In this area, almost no waste products are present, so the natural oxidation process takes place in a completely pristine Himalayan environment.
