This wonderful shou puerh was made with leaves from old trees growing wild in Cao Bo, Ha Giang Vietnam, northern Vietnam. It is quite rare to find shou puerh made from such high quality raw material and you really appreciate it when you drink it as its taste is very clean. You will find this tea to be very smooth and delicious, with a pleasant aged flavor full of elegant woody notes that are very warm and comforting.

This tea was pressed in a rather unusual format. They come in the form of 9 to 10 gram bricks that resemble small chocolates or hotel soaps and are then wrapped in brown paper and sealed with tape. We recommend using the whole piece or just half, depending on how many people are drinking. But since the compression leans towards the hard side, we recommend that you break it up a bit before you start infusing it.

This lovely vintage Puerh was made by a tea producer who had worked for a long time making factory Puerh in Yunnan. This is important because traditionally in Vietnam they have lovely wild, ancient tree material, but the local Dzau people make Raw Sheng Puerh, not Cooked Shou Puerh.

This tea was made similar to a cooked (shou) puer with the exception that the leaves were left to ferment on a wooden base, rather than a cement floor. The tea was also made using the natural microorganisms present rather than adding any microbial starter.

This tea was made using wild leaves from ancient 200-800 year old trees growing at 1500 meters in Ha Giang province, a region which shares a 270 kilometer border with Yunnan. An area that produces tea referred to as “Border Tea”.

You’ll find it to be very special, with excellent storage. You'll find this is a fantastic fermented tea with intense earthy, woody and mineral notes. It is deep and rich while handling many infusions.
