These wild purple puerh buds come from a large leaf varietal that is typically used for making puerh tea. The simple, sun-dried processing makes it actually a white tea. The buds were handpicked at 2000 meters in the wild forests of Ha Giang. This wild tea is precious and available only in very limited supply. These purple buds are nature's way of resisting damage from unfavorably hot and humid climate as the tea leaves produce anthocyanin which reflects some of the UV rays and gives this tea many additional health properties. Anthocyanin has a bitter-sweet profile and is present in fruits like blackberries, roses, lychees and blueberries. You will actually find this tea has lovely fruity notes of lychee, rose and grapefruit.
You'll find the buds are actually a beautiful mix of purple, green and yellow tones. They handle many infusions filled with sweetness that surprisingly, for a purple tea, never turns bitter!
