This delicious fresh and floral green tea comes from the wild tea forests that sprung from the hectares of abandoned tea plantations that the Soviets planted in the mid 19th century and which came to their demise with the fall of the Iron Curtain and economic despair that followed. This wild field in particular was actually burnt down and the new trees sprung from the ashes. This tea comes from Schivogauri in Ozurgeti, Guria province. It’s actually made by the same producers who make our Honeysuckle Wild Georgian White Tea. It’s a remote and pristine area with nice growing conditions. The warm summers and chilly winters mean there is no need for chemicals to keep the tea trees safe from pests. From the tea gardens you see snow capped peaks of the Small and Great Caucasus where the humid air from the sea and the fresh wind from the mountains meet. You’ll find the tea is very fresh tasting with aroma that is floral, herbal, sweet and creamy with notes of greens beans and a flavour profile that is also fresh and sweet with nice body and notes of sweet corn and a long sweet aftertaste.
