This fantastic Vietnamese hong cha comes from ancient wild trees in the Cao Bo forest in Ha Giang, northern Vietnam. You'll find that this tea is very powerful and complex with notes of honey and chocolate.
The old tea trees can reach up to 15 meters in height and grow at about 2400 meters above sea level in a cool and humid climate, under a typically misty and cloudy sky. The inhabitants say it is this permanent fog that gives quality to the tea. This tea was made with Shan Tuyet or Shan Snow tree varietal. Shan means mountain and forest, and Snow refers to the white hair that coats its young buds.
It has large leaves, making it perfect for Bowl Tea as it is sweet and not too bitter when left infusing in the bowl.
