Incredible chance to taste a fantastic, clean and aged Cha Tou! Cha Tou or “tea nuggets” are a by-product of puerh processing. During the fermentation piling process (Wo Dui) little nuggets form at the bottom of the pile. These nuggets ferment at a different rate and puerh lovers find them fascinating for their flavor, appearance and numerous wonderful infusions they produce, making them perfect for Boiling Tea sessions.
These nuggets are particularly special because they are “pearl” sized, so they are small enough to allow water to penetrate and make a flavorful brew. They’ve been aged for 5 years and lots the “dui wei” fermentation flavor, becomming sweet, dense, fruity and viscous over time. And perhaps most importantly, they come from high quality Lincang material that was fermented at Yong De Zi Yu Factory in Lincang. At Caj Chai we believe Ripe Puerh should come from firmly established tea factories because the fermentation process is very tricky. Hygenic conditions and expert control and monitoring is fundamental. In the case of Cha Tou this becomes even more important as we are talking about the very bottom of the fermentation pile.
