Almond aroma oolong tea completely hand-harvested and handmade produced from early spring harvest grown at the foot of Mt. Wu Dong. It is called Almond Aroma (Xing Ren Xiang) but it is not an aromatized tea. This varietal has been around for centuries and is said to smell like roasted almonds during its delicate roasting process. The term “Dan Cong” means single bush. Most tea bushes grow from the ground in a cluster of branches, but Dan Cong plants emerge as a single trunk that branches off a little higher from the ground. This Xing Ren Xiang Dan Cong comes from 20-40 year old trees and bushes that grow naturally. Its long leaves have been handled with care and undergone 30% oxidation to produce an incredible combination of floral and fruity tones that are fresh and sweet when prepared carefully. Otherwise this tea has a tendency to become bitter and astringent if you are not careful. It is so aromatic that at first one may wonder if it is aromatized, but its sweet, floral and fruity notes are pure and natural, authentic tributes to its varietal “xiang” and 30% oxidation.
