It’s not easy to find such excellent Japanase red tea (koucha), this artisan Benifuuki tea comes from Mr Kajihara’s farm in the village of Tsuge on Kyushu Island. The leaves come from the first harvest of Benifuuki cultivar tea trees, which are of Assamica origin. The name itself means “Red Riches and Honor” and has become famous in Japan for its properties in alleviating allergies, although those studies were with Benifuuki green tea. You’ll find this to be a great tea to start your day, its flavor is sweet, distinctly aromatis and very smooth on the palate.
