Hei Zhung Lu Cha is a highly interesting, delicious winter harvest green tea from old trees plucked and processed by Mr. Huang in Pinglin, northern Taiwan. The leaves come from old natural gardens where no agrochemicals are used. The bushes are from the rare Hei Zhung cultivar, which translates as “black varietal”, because while on the tree the color of the leaves are dark green, almost black. When brewed the leaves become tender, edible and a wonderful vibrant green! Hei Zhung is a very rare and old cultivar that is related to the famous autochthonous Taiwanese varietal Chin Shin or “Tender Heart”.
