Kamimashiki Mushisei Tam. 3rd Prize

,

Fantastic tamaryokucha that received 3rd prize at this year’s National Tea Competition of Japan. The shape of tamaryokucha (sometimes called guricha) is quite unique among Japanese green teas because instead of kneading the leaves into the slender needle shape typical of sencha, kabuse or gyokuro, it is given a curly, comma shape.
