Fantastic tamaryokucha that received 3rd prize at this year’s National Tea Competition of Japan. The shape of tamaryokucha (sometimes called guricha) is quite unique among Japanese green teas because instead of kneading the leaves into the slender needle shape typical of sencha, kabuse or gyokuro, it is given a curly, comma shape. Mushisei Tamaryokucha is diferent from Kamairi Tamaryokucha in that the first is steamed like the majority of Japanese green teas and the latter is pan-fried in the Chinese style.
