Lu Shan Yun Wu (Lu Mountain Clouds and Mist) is one of China’s 10 most famous teas, it was an Imperial tribute Tea since the Song Dynasty over a thousand years ago. This traditionally made Yun Wu was made from early-spring, Pre-Ching-Ming, early flush tips. Its early-Spring quality is evident in its sweet, thick flavor, refreshing fragrance and deep umami which lingers long in the throat and creates an expansive feeling in the mouth. It is clean and crisp, with lasting sweetness and a hint of elegant fruity and nutty notes.
Lu Shan Yun Wu is harvested at Lu Mountain, located in Jiangxi province in a cleft between the Yangtze River and Lake Poyang, both of which help provide water for the mist and clouds. It’s a beautiful scenic spot shrouded in thick mist, which is famously the perfect environment to grow the very best tea in China. There is actually an old Chinese saying “Yun Wu Chu Hao Cha”, which can be translated “wherever there are clouds and mist, there’s bound to be good tea”.
