This amazing striped oolong from Taiwan is a special limited production made from the lovely Qi Lan varietal, which translates as “rare orchid”. This varietal originally comes from the famous WuYi Mountain where oolong tea was first processed and now it flourishes in Pinglin, in the north-east of Taiwan, near Taipei. It’s interesting that the producer decided to process this tea as a striped oolong, which is typical of Wuyi, and not as a balled oolong like is customary in Taiwan nowadays. This tea was medium oxidized bringing out a surprisingly wide array of fruity and floral aromas and flavors and finally lightly roasted adding another layer of complexity.
