Expertly oxidized made using leaves of a wild tree purple leaf varietal from Feng Qing area of Lincang prefecture. This wild tree varietal grows wild in the mountains west of Feng Qing township near Da Si at 2000-2200m. “Ye Sheng” varietal “Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze var. assamica (J. Masters) Kitam” is a primeval varietal that pre-dates Camellia Sinensis var. Assamica and is a naturally occuring non-hybridized varietal. It’s a natural bug repellent that grows wild in the forests of Yunnan at an altitude of 1600-2200m. Its strong cha qi arises from its unadulterated nature. It’s an incredibly rare tea, in fact only 60 kilograms are made. To preserve its powerful cha qi, these spring 2015 leaves very lightly wilted and expertly processed. You’ll find the green is still very much present in the leaves and a wide array of aromatic notes ranging from candied apricots and rose to more vegetal notes like bamboo, roasted carrots or artichokes to heavier tomato sauce notes and with a caramel, barrel aged rum flavor.
