GABA TEA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid) made from Taiwanese high-grade Ying Xiang (Attractive Aroma) varietal bushes that are naturally rich in glutamic acid - the precursor to GABA, and meets or exceeds the Japanese standard of 150 mg of GABA per 100 grams of tea. GABA tea production differs in that it is made in a nitrogen rich anaerobic atmosphere without any exposure to oxygen.
White GABA is still an experimental rarity and we were very lucky to get this one.
The Shimen area near Taipei is one of the oldest growing areas in Taiwan and is famous for its traditionally processed and roasted Tie Guan Ying. GABA tea is produced in an anaerobic environment to maintain the GABA levels of the leaves since if the tea is processed in a typical environment the GABA is lost when it comes into contact with oxygen. Yes, we are already fans of GABA and its properties, we loved discovering this tea where it combines the properties of white tea. This gem is sweet, with creamy and fruity notes!
This tea comes from natural cultivated gardens that don’t use any agricultural chemicals. GABA tea is famous for its extensive health properties including its calming properties which have a positive effect on mood and helping regenerate the nervous system.
