Today we refer to white tea as a process. However, white tea was born in Fuding, Fujian, the place of origin of this tea. Fuding White Tea is divided into 4 categories:
Bai Hao Yin Zhen (Silver Needles)
Bai Mu Dan (White Peony)
Gong Mei (Tribute Eyebrows)
Shou Mei (Longevity Eyebrows)
The Gong Mei is the 3rd category and is probably the rarest to find. Normally producers and/or vendors try to sneak it like Bai Mu Dan since she is much more famous. The difference between the qualities lies in the proportion of buds it contains. This Gong Mei was produced by harvesting one bud and two or three leaves of the Fuding Da Hao varietal.
