This organic Darjeeling Ambootia “Ambrosia” is a fantastic SFGFOP1 second-flush tea picked in early June. Ambootia, which means “place of the mango trees” is one of the most famous tea estates in Darjeeling. It was amongst the first tea estates established by the British in the 1850s. In 1992, it transitioned to 100% certified organic and bio-dynamic production and in 1994, Ambootia was Fair Trade certified. The tea estate is located just below Kurseong in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains in Darjeeling district in the state of West Bengal in India. This particular batch was oxidized a little less than is ordinary for second-flush darjeeling teas, meaning you'll find more floral aromatic notes than deep musky moscatel and woody notes that is more customary of second flush Darjeeling.
