This is a fantastic Jia Ji (Grade 3 leaf) Shou Puerh. Jia Ji is a relatively small leaf grade. The smaller, tender Pu-erh tea leaves (buds and young leaves) make for a more viscous, pectin-rich, and creamy brew compared to larger, more mature leaves, due to their higher concentration of sticky, immature cells. You'll find this tea has a nice full, thick sweetness, with notes of mushrooms, dark chocolate, vanilla and walnut. It has a very potent cha qi, making it a great choice for mornings!
You should try brewing it with more leaf and for longer steeping times to discover how thick this tea can be in mouth while never getting bitter. This tea comes from Lincang, which is one of the 3 major or important areas for puerh tea along with Xishuangbanna and Simao. The Dayezhong (large-leaf variteal) leaves were harvested in 2015 and processed as mao cha. They weren't fermented until 2018 and they weren't pressed until 2020! Each tuo weighs 100 grams.
It was a long time in the making and the result is fabulous!!!
